How Do You Get From Dubrovnik Airport To The Old Town?
Dubrovnik Airport is 22 km from the Old Town, a 25 to 35 minute drive that stretches towards an hour in peak summer. The Old Town is pedestrian only, so every vehicle stops at Pile Gate, Ploče Gate or Buža Gate and you walk the final stretch on foot. Which gate you are dropped at makes a real difference, which is why people booking a Dubrovnik airport transfer usually ask about the drop-off before they ask about the price. The Platanus airport shuttle sets arriving passengers down near Ploče on the eastern side and does not serve Pile, which catches out anyone whose apartment is on the western side. Uber and Bolt cannot reach either gate because of the traffic restrictions around the walls, so app drivers leave passengers 10 to 15 minutes' walk away. Terminal B, arrivals and baggage reclaim — Pickup & Drop off
Terminal B is the left-hand section of the building and takes every arriving passenger, whatever they flew in on.
Pick-up
- Your driver waits inside the single arrivals concourse, past customs. There is one arrivals hall, with the Platanus shuttle kiosk immediately visible on the right, car rental desks along the hall and ATMs and a currency exchange counter in the same space, so there is no second exit to guess at.
- A taxi information counter sits inside Terminal B with published fares on it, and the rank itself is immediately outside next to the terminal. That counter is the walk-up option. A pre-booked Dubrovnik airport taxi does not queue there at all.
- Schengen arrivals normally walk straight through with no external border check, while passengers arriving from outside the Schengen Area complete border formalities, and the EU Entry/Exit System has been fully operational since 10 April 2026. Two aircraft landing four minutes apart can reach the hall twenty minutes apart because of it, so we hold the car against your actual exit, not the scheduled landing.
- There is no luggage storage anywhere in the terminal, and the nearest paid lockers are at Gruž bus station. If your apartment will not take bags before check-in, tell us at booking and we route through Gruž rather than leaving you circling the Old Town with cases.
- The shuttle desk is the first thing you see coming out of reclaim, which is why people buy a ticket before they realise the bus does not stop at Pile. If your address is on the western side, say so when you book and we drop at Pile Gate instead.
Drop-off
- The set-down area in front of the arrivals section is for unloading only, not for parking, so if you are dropping someone who is meeting an arriving passenger we sit down here and move, and they wait inside.
- Arrivals doors are a different part of the frontage from the check-in doors. Being dropped at the wrong end in August means walking the length of the building against everyone coming out of reclaim with trolleys.
- This is also the correct set-down for anyone collecting a hire car, since the rental parking sits behind the car parks that front the terminal rather than at departures.
Which Destinations Do Our Dubrovnik Airport Transfers Cover?
Dubrovnik sits at the far southern tip of Croatia with Bosnia to the north and Montenegro 30 minutes to the south, so an airport transfer at Dubrovnik Airport is often the first leg of a much longer journey. Our Dubrovnik transfers run in four broad directions.
Dubrovnik Old Town, Ploče, Pile and Lapad
The city walls are 22 km from the terminal and the drive takes 25 to 35 minutes outside high season. We drop at the gate nearest your address rather than at a single fixed stop, and for the hotels and apartments out in Lapad and Babin Kuk we go straight there instead of leaving you at the bus station to work out a local connection.
Cavtat, Mlini, Srebreno and the Konavle valley
Cavtat is only about 5 km from the airport, roughly 10 minutes, and is closer to the terminal than Dubrovnik is. Mlini, Srebreno and Plat are 15 to 20 minutes up the coast. The Konavle villages inland, including Čilipi itself, are a short run but poorly served by public transport, so a pre-booked car is usually the only sensible option with luggage.
Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina
Herceg Novi is about 28 km from the airport and Kotor around an hour and a half, both across the Croatia to Montenegro border. Mostar is roughly two and three quarter hours inland. Why Book Airport Transfers In Dubrovnik Instead Of Using An App?
Dubrovnik transfers are not like transfers anywhere else in Croatia, because the last 200 metres decide whether your arrival goes well. The walled Old Town has no vehicle access at all, and the streets inside are stone, stepped and steep. The airport shuttle is good value at 10 euros, but it drops arriving passengers at Ploče on the eastern side and never at Pile, then carries on to Gruž, and it has no stop in Lapad or Babin Kuk at all. None of that is obvious when you are booking a flight in February. It becomes obvious at 10pm in August with two cases and a phone on 4 percent. For most airport transfers Dubrovnik visitors book from home, the drop-off point is the whole decision.

Can You Book A Dubrovnik Airport Transfer To Montenegro Or Mostar?
Yes, and it is one of the main reasons people arrive at this airport. Montenegro is not in the EU or the Schengen Area, so the Croatia to Montenegro crossing is a full international border in both directions.
There is no direct bus from the terminal into Montenegro, and most rental agreements either forbid taking the car across or require paperwork and a green card arranged in advance. That leaves a pre-booked car as the only option that does not involve changing vehicles with your luggage.
How We Handle The Border On Cross-Border Dubrovnik Transfers
- We use Karasovići on the Croatian side and Debeli Brijeg on the Montenegrin side, the main 24 hour crossing on the Adriatic Highway, which handles all coach and lorry traffic and is where route planners send everybody.
- When that crossing is backed up, our drivers switch to Vitaljina and Kobila about 8 km south. It is open to cars and motorcycles only, adds 10 to 15 minutes of driving and can save far more than that in queueing. Montenegro's interior ministry publishes live camera feeds from every crossing, refreshed every 40 seconds, and drivers check them before committing.
- For Kotor and Budva the route crosses the Bay of Kotor on the Kamenari to Lepetane ferry, about 4.50 euros per car for a ten minute crossing with departures every 15 to 30 minutes. If that queue is long we drive around the bay instead and tell you the trade-off at the time.
- You stay in the vehicle at the border and hand your passports through the window. Everyone needs their own document, including children, and EU citizens can use a national ID card while everyone else needs a passport.
- Coming back into Croatia is a Schengen external border, so non-EU passengers complete EES registration in person. The driver cannot do that part for you, and we allow for it in the return timing.
