The airport is only 4 km from the centre, and the train from the station under Terminal 1 reaches Cornavin in about six minutes. That works well if you travel light and your hotel is in zone 10. It stops working the moment you have three suitcases, a late arrival after the last train around 00:51, or a meeting at a lakeside address in Nyon, Lausanne or Montreux. The classic French run. Chamonix is 88 km on the A40 Autoroute Blanche through the Bardonnex crossing, about 1 hour 15 minutes in normal traffic. Morzine, Les Gets, Avoriaz, Samoëns, Flaine and Megève sit between 70 and 110 km out. Tolls, the Swiss motorway vignette and border formalities are all handled by the driver, and vehicles carry winter tyres and chains as required in Haute-Savoie between 1 November and 31 March.
Tarentaise And Les Trois Vallées
Courchevel, Méribel, Val Thorens, Les Menuires, Tignes, Val d'Isère, La Plagne and Les Arcs are the longest runs from Geneva, typically 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours 20 minutes depending on the resort and the snow. These are the routes where shared shuttles hurt most, because a coach that waits to fill and then makes five drop-offs can turn a three hour drive into a five hour one. What Makes A Geneva Ski Transfer Different In Winter?
Geneva handled 17.85 million passengers in 2025 across a single runway, and winter Saturdays are the day it feels like it. Charter and low cost flights land in tight waves, thousands of people collect skis from the oversized baggage belt at the same time, and the resort roads fill up as the previous week's guests head down.
This is also the period when French law changes what a vehicle is allowed to be. Under Loi Montagne II, from 1 November to 31 March every vehicle driving in the mountain zones of Savoie and Haute-Savoie must carry 3PMSF winter tyres on all four wheels, or chains for the driven wheels, with a fine of €135 and possible immobilisation for getting it wrong. A hire car booked online rarely arrives properly equipped, and fitting chains on a dark climb with a family in the back is a poor way to start a holiday.
How We Handle Geneva Transfers In Ski Season
