How Do You Get From Haneda Airport To Central Tokyo?

Haneda Airport is 18–22 km from central Tokyo, with private transfers taking around 30–45 minutes door to door. The Monorail and Keikyu Line reach central stations faster, while buses connect all three terminals to major hotels and stations in 30–80 minutes. Since Haneda operates 24 hours, late-night arrivals may have limited public transport, with the Monorail stopping around 23:45 and restarting after 05:00. We cover all three terminals, with transfers to Tokyo, Yokohama, Narita, Tokyo Disney Resort, and Mount Fuji.

Which Haneda Terminal Does Your Flight Actually Use?

Haneda splits its traffic three ways, and international departures leave from two different terminals, which is where most arrival problems start. Give us your flight number and operating carrier and we assign the correct terminal, the correct floor and the correct pick-up point.

Terminal 1

Terminal 1 — Pickup & Drop off

Terminal 1 is JAL's domestic base, shared with Skymark and StarFlyer, and it is split into a North Wing and a South Wing by destination rather than by airline alone. On 1 September 2026 the new North Satellite opened, adding around 21,000 square metres and six gates numbered 24 to 29, the first major expansion since 1993. It is a good facility, but it puts more walking between the aircraft door and the arrivals hall.

Pick-up

  • Your driver meets you in the 1F arrivals lobby by the named meeting points, the Tower of the Sun and the Tower of the Moon, which are far easier to find than a wing number when you have just landed.
  • Pre-booked cars collect from the reserved vehicle stand on the 2F departures level, not the 1F taxi rank, following the airport's rule introduced in October 2025 for app-hailed and reserved vehicles.
  • We add walking time for arrivals into the new North Satellite gates rather than assuming you appear in the hall at the moment the aircraft parks.

Drop-off

  • We drop at the 2F departures level, at the North Wing for JAL services to Hokkaido, Tohoku, Hokuriku and Kinki and for Skymark, and at the South Wing for JAL services to Chugoku, Shikoku, Kyushu and Okinawa, plus JTA and StarFlyer.
  • Car park P1 and P2 both serve Terminal 1 and fill quickly at peak, so drivers stage in advance rather than circling.
  • Domestic check-in closes tightly in Japan, so we plan backwards from the counter cut-off, not from the departure time on your ticket.

Which Haneda Airport Transfer Routes Do We Cover?

Haneda sits inside Tokyo, which makes almost every journey short and almost every journey traffic-dependent. The airport transfer Haneda Airport arrivals actually need depends on which terminal they land in and how far past the last train they get through immigration.

What Does A Haneda Airport Transfer Cost On Your Route?

Prices are per vehicle and include tolls, meet and greet, flight tracking and waiting time. There is no night rate, so a 02:00 arrival pays the same as a midday one.

Can You Book A Haneda Airport Terminal Transfer Between Terminals?

Can You Book A Haneda Airport Terminal Transfer Between Terminals?

Yes, and it is worth knowing when the free options work and when they do not. Haneda runs a free inter-terminal shuttle every four minutes from 05:00 to 20:00 and every eight minutes from 20:00 to midnight, taking about three minutes from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 and about five to Terminal 3. The airport also issues free Keikyu and Monorail transfer tickets at the information counters, and Terminals 1 and 2 are joined by an underground passageway that takes seven to eight minutes on foot.

Those free tickets come with a condition: they are for passengers connecting between flights, and you have to show a passport and an onward ticket to get one. The shuttle has a condition too. The first bus of the day leaves Terminal 3 at 04:47 and the last leaves at around 01:15, which means there is a window of roughly three and a half hours overnight when a 24 hour airport has no free way to move you between buildings.

When The Free Shuttle And Transfer Tickets Will Not Work For You

  • Overnight, between roughly 01:30 and 04:45, when the free shuttle has stopped and Haneda is still handling arrivals and early departures.
  • When you are self-connecting on separate tickets, collecting your own bags and rechecking them, which is also when the free rail transfer ticket may not be issued to you.
  • Between 11:00 and 13:30, when the Terminal 3 domestic transfer security checkpoint is closed and everyone is pushed onto the landside route anyway.
  • When you are moving with a wheelchair, a buggy, mobility equipment or more cases than a shuttle luggage rack will take.
  • On tight connections, where waiting for a bus, riding it and then walking to check-in quietly eats the margin you thought you had.
  • For groups of five or more who would otherwise be split across two shuttle departures with their luggage in between.

What Happens If You Land At Haneda After The Last Train?

Haneda is open 24 hours and takes long-haul arrivals well past midnight, but Tokyo's railways are not open 24 hours. The last Tokyo Monorail leaves Terminal 3 at around 23:45 and the last Keikyu service goes shortly after, with first departures from just after 05:00, so there is a five hour gap in the middle of the night. Land at 23:30 and you will still be in the immigration queue when both of them go.

What remains is a night bus that serves Shinjuku and Ikebukuro only, with four departures between 00:20 and 02:20 at around ¥2,800 a head, or the taxi rank, where a 20 per cent surcharge applies between 22:00 and 05:00. One operator's flat fare to Shinjuku Ward rises from ¥9,000 in the daytime to ¥10,700 at night, and the metered alternative runs ¥6,000 to ¥10,000 into central Tokyo. A Haneda airport private transfer is quoted once and costs the same at 02:00 as it does at 14:00.

What Our Haneda Airport Private Transfer Includes?

  • One fixed price at any hour, with no 22:00 to 05:00 surcharge applied to the fare.
  • A driver held against your actual landing time rather than the scheduled one, tracked flight by flight.
  • Door to door delivery to any address, not only the two destinations the night bus serves.
  • Expressway tolls included, where the fixed fare taxi scheme charges up to ¥1,950 on top of the quoted zone rate.
  • Meet and greet inside the terminal included, where one Haneda operator bills ¥8,000 for the same service.
  • A vehicle sized to your luggage and your group, booked before you fly rather than negotiated at a rank at one in the morning.

Availability depends on your route and travel date at Haneda. Complete the booking flow to review options for your journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about Haneda Airport pickups and transfers into Tokyo.

Book Your Airport Transfer

It depends on who operates the aircraft, not whose flight number is on your ticket. ANA operates a set of its own international services from Terminal 2, including London, Paris, Frankfurt, Munich, New York, Singapore and Sydney. Every other international flight, including codeshares sold under an ANA number but flown by a partner airline, uses Terminal 3. Send us the operating carrier and we handle it.

In the arrivals lobby of your terminal, holding a name board. That is 2F at Terminal 3 and 1F at Terminals 1 and 2. From October 2025 pre-booked and app-hailed vehicles at Terminals 1 and 2 collect from the reserved stand on the 2F departures level rather than the 1F taxi rank, and your driver will walk you there.

Between 30 and 45 minutes for the 18 to 22 km into the 23 wards. Evening congestion on the Shuto Expressway is the main variable, and we allow for it when setting your pick-up time.

Often, and it is more predictable. Fixed fare taxis run about ¥7,600 to Chiyoda and up to ¥14,000 to Musashino, with tolls up to ¥1,950 added, a ¥1,000 booking fee for advance reservations, and a 20 per cent surcharge overnight. The scheme also does not cover journeys to Ota, Shinagawa, Meguro, Minato, Chuo or Koto wards, so those go on the meter.

Yes, on request when you book. Give us the age and weight of each child and the seats are fitted before pick-up. Japanese taxis do not carry them, so this has to be arranged in advance rather than asked for at the rank.
